Office & Lobby Signs: Reception Walls, Directories and Suite Identification

Office lobby signs do two jobs at once: they tell a visitor they are in the right place, and they set the tone for everything behind the reception desk. Zealot Signs fabricates dimensional reception logos, backlit lobby walls, tenant directories, suite identification and ADA room signage in-house in Powell, Ohio, and installs them with our own crews.

Because we build the whole interior package — reception, directory, suites, restrooms, conference rooms, life safety — the finishes match across every sign in the building instead of drifting between three vendors and two years of change orders.

How Zealot Signs delivers this work

Every step below happens inside Zealot Signs — no brokered design, no subcontracted fabrication, no day-rate install crew.

The five pieces of an office signage package

    • Reception or lobby identification — dimensional letters and logos in brushed or polished stainless, painted aluminum, acrylic or wood, mounted flush or on standoffs, with optional halo lighting.
    • Tenant directory — a printed, changeable-panel or digital directory in the main lobby, sized for the building's tenant count and turnover rate.
    • Suite identification — the sign at each tenant's door, ideally a modular system that lets a name change without replacing the whole plaque.
    • ADA and room identification — tactile characters and Grade 2 Braille on permanent rooms, restrooms and exits, mounted at code-compliant heights.
    • Wayfinding and life safety — elevator lobby directionals, stair identification, area of refuge and occupancy signage.

Materials and mounting, and how they read in a lobby

In a lobby the light source matters as much as the material. Brushed stainless reads warm and quiet under downlights and cold under fluorescents. Polished acrylic on standoffs floats and casts a shadow line that gives cheap drywall an expensive look. Painted aluminum is the most flexible for exact brand color matching. Wood and felt panels are increasingly common where the interior design is going for acoustic softness.

Halo-lit dimensional letters behind the reception desk are the single highest-impact upgrade in most offices, and they need a power source and a clean wall plane — which is why it is far cheaper to plan them during buildout than to add them after the drywall is finished and painted.

ADA requirements you cannot skip in an office building

Permanent room identification — restrooms, stairs, exits, and rooms whose function will not change — requires tactile raised characters and Grade 2 Braille, non-glare finishes with adequate contrast, and specific mounting height and location relative to the door's latch side. Directional and informational signage has its own legibility rules but does not require Braille.

This is the part of an office package that gets discovered late, usually during a certificate-of-occupancy inspection. We build ADA signage to the current standards as part of the package and coordinate the schedule around your inspection date, not after it.

    Working with tenant turnover

In a multi-tenant office building, the signage that costs you the most over ten years is the signage that has to be replaced every time a lease changes. We design directories and suite signs as insert systems: the frame, the finish and the mounting stay, and only the printed or engraved insert changes. Property managers can then handle a name change for the cost of a panel instead of a service call and a new sign.

We hold your building's specifications on file, so a replacement insert two years from now matches the rest of the floor exactly.

Office & lobby signs: common questions

What do office lobby signs cost?

It depends on the piece. ADA and room identification signs start around $150 each and are usually quoted as a package for the whole floor or building. A dimensional reception logo wall is priced by size, material and whether it is illuminated — brushed stainless and halo-lit letters cost more than painted aluminum or acrylic. Zealot Signs quotes the interior package as a schedule so you can see every sign type and count.

Can you match our brand colors and fonts exactly on interior signs?

Yes. We work from your brand standards and produce shop drawings showing fonts, colors and proportions for approval before anything is fabricated. Painted finishes are matched to your specified color, and for critical installs we can provide a physical finish sample so you are approving the actual material rather than a screen.

Do office suite and restroom signs have to be ADA compliant?

Permanent room identification does — restrooms, stairwells, exits and rooms whose function will not change need tactile raised characters, Grade 2 Braille, non-glare finishes with adequate contrast, and compliant mounting height and location on the latch side of the door. Purely directional or temporary signage has legibility requirements but does not need Braille.

Do you install interior signs, or just fabricate them?

We install. Zealot Signs employs its own Ohio-licensed installation crews, and interior work is scheduled around building access rules, tenant hours and inspection dates. For occupied buildings we can work evenings so a lobby is not a construction zone during business hours.

How fast can you produce an interior signage package?

Fabrication for a typical interior package runs roughly two to four weeks after drawings are approved, depending on materials and quantity. Illuminated reception features and custom finishes sit at the longer end. If you are working toward a certificate-of-occupancy date, tell us that date up front and we will schedule backward from it.
