Construction Site Signs in Central Ohio
Zealot Signs builds construction site signs for projects across Central Ohio — the project board at the entrance, safety and PPE signage at the gate, fence mesh and barricade graphics along the perimeter, and the coming-soon or now-leasing graphics that start marketing the building before it opens.
Jobsite signage has two jobs at once: keep the site compliant and communicative for the people working in it, and start selling the finished building to everyone driving past. We handle both from one shop, which means the temporary graphics and the permanent signage that replaces them share the same brand files and the same crew.

How Zealot Signs delivers this work
Every step below happens inside Zealot Signs — no brokered design, no subcontracted fabrication, no day-rate install crew.
Types of construction site signage we produce
- Project identification boards — owner, architect, general contractor, lender, and subcontractor panels, sized for readability from the road and built to survive the whole build.
- Coming soon, now leasing, and now hiring signs — rendered building images, leasing contact, and QR codes on rigid panels, banners, or fence mesh.
- Safety and PPE signage — hard hat, eye protection, authorized personnel, no trespassing, hazard, and emergency contact signs for gates and interior work areas.
- Fence mesh and barricade graphics — printed mesh banners for perimeter fence, sidewalk barricade panels, and pedestrian route graphics for urban sites.
- Wayfinding for the site itself — deliveries, trailer, dumpster, parking, and visitor check-in signs that keep trucks out of the wrong entrance.
- Temporary tenant and business-open signage — banners keeping an operating business visible while its facade or parking lot is torn up.
Materials that survive an Ohio jobsite
A construction sign lives outdoors through freeze-thaw, wind, mud, and sun for the length of the project. Coroplast is fine for a few weeks and a poor choice for eighteen months. For long builds we use aluminum composite panel with UV-stable printed graphics or painted aluminum, mounted to posts or a frame that will not rack in wind.
Fence mesh is printed on a perforated substrate so wind passes through rather than turning the fence into a sail — that detail is what keeps banners and fence panels standing after a storm. Banner grommets, reinforced hems, and tensioning matter more on a jobsite than on a storefront.
Temporary signs still have rules
Many Central Ohio jurisdictions regulate temporary and construction signage: how large a project sign can be, how long it may stay up, how close it may sit to the right-of-way, and whether it needs a permit at all. Requirements vary by city and by zoning district, and signs projecting over a public sidewalk usually involve additional review.
We check the rules for the address before fabrication and size the sign to what is allowed, rather than building something that has to be moved after the first complaint.
Planning temporary and permanent signage together
The best time to design a building's permanent signage is while the jobsite signage is being built, because permitting, engineering, and blocking coordination all take longer than fabrication. Wall blocking, conduit locations, and monument foundations are cheap while the walls are open and expensive afterward.
We work with general contractors and developers to keep the permanent sign package on the project schedule, so the monument and building identification are ready for the certificate-of-occupancy date instead of becoming the last open item.
Construction site signs: common questions
Who makes construction site signs in Central Ohio?
Zealot Signs fabricates and installs construction site signage across Central Ohio from our Powell shop — project identification boards, safety and PPE signs, fence mesh banners, barricade graphics, jobsite wayfinding, and coming-soon or now-leasing graphics.
How long do construction signs need to last?
Match the material to the schedule. Short-term signs can be printed on lighter substrates, but a sign that has to stand for a year or more through Ohio winters should be aluminum composite or painted aluminum with UV-stable graphics on a frame that resists wind.
Do construction site signs require a permit?
Sometimes. Many jurisdictions regulate the size, duration, and placement of temporary and construction signage, and signs over a public sidewalk often need extra review. Rules differ by city and zoning district, so we verify the requirements for the specific site before fabrication.
Can you print a rendering of the finished building on the fence?
Yes. Architectural renderings print well on perforated fence mesh and rigid barricade panels. Send the rendering at full resolution along with leasing or contact details and we will lay it out for the fence run you actually have.
Can you handle both the temporary and the permanent signage?
Yes, and that is usually the better approach. Handling both means one set of brand files, one team coordinating blocking and conduit with the general contractor, and permanent signage that is permitted and fabricated in time for occupancy.
