Inside a 38-Unit Channel Letter Install for a Mixed-Use Tower
How our crew sequenced fabrication, raceway prep, and night installs to hit a tight pre-leasing deadline.
The brief
A developer in our region needed a complete primary identification package for a new mixed-use tower: rooftop channel letters, two illuminated blade signs, and a backlit monument at the porte-cochère. The catch — leasing photography was scheduled for the week after substantial completion.
What we delivered
- 38 fabricated aluminum channel letters with white LED illumination and 3/16" trim cap
- Two double-faced blade signs with internal LED arrays
- One 8-ft monument with push-through acrylic logo
Fabrication notes
We routed returns from .063 aluminum and TIG-welded corners on every letter to avoid the silicone seams that fail first in our climate. Power supplies were specified at 80% load to extend service life and were grouped in a serviceable enclosure on the roof.
Installation challenges
The biggest constraint wasn't the signs — it was the lift window. Crane time on the roof was limited to a single Saturday. We pre-built the raceway sections in the shop, labeled every wire run, and staged letters in install order so the field crew never had to re-sort on deck.
Result
Leasing photography happened on schedule. The monument has since become the building's most photographed feature on social media.
